Not a bad softball weekend
No doubt, the competition wasn't great - average strength of schedule of the 5 opponents was approximately 191. but it was a good break after last weekend's gauntlet of 5 ranked teams.
The tournament gave the staff the opportunity to take a closer look at various lineups and Kaylee Hewitt even got her first career no hitter.
To recap before turning the page:
*5 wins to move the team's overall record to 12-3
*runs scored: VT 50, opponents 6
*hits: VT 49, opponents 14
*stolen bases: VT was 12 for 14
And Hokie pitchers limited opponents to 3 earned runs and struck out 48 in 31 innings.
It was a solid weekend and the competition next weekend in Jacksonville will be a step up with those 4 opponents only having a total of 14 losses between them.
Oh, and there's that New River Clash with 6-3 Radford on Wednesday (weather permitting).
Let's Go Hokies!
